El grupo inició sus actividades en 1995, constituido por especialistas y profesionales que realizan investigación en ecosistemas forestales, especialmente en la evaluación integral de plantaciones forestales y manejo sustentable de bosques naturales. Entre las áreas de investigación se destacan:
– Ecología vegetal.
– Suelos forestales.
– Sostenibilidad de plantaciones forestales.
